CPI also takes a strict stand on tampering with martyrs' monuments

Received from MS Bhatia on Wednesday 1st Oct 2025 at 17:08 Regarding Bharat Nagar Square Ludhiana

 Dispute of Handing over Bharat Nagar Chowk to traders

Ludhiana
: 1st October 2025: (Media Link Ravinder/ /Ludhiana Screen Desk)::

Nowadays, slogans of nationalism are heard more but in practice, the things and issues related to nationalism are ignored and disrespected. Something similar is happening with the butt of a great martyr of Ludhiana. This great martyr Major General Bhupinder Singh, who showed bravery during the war with the plagues, had shown unparalleled bravery. That is why the statue of this great martyr and the Patton tank that won the war with Pakistan used to be adorned in Bharat Nagar Chowk of Ludhiana.

The CPI has also come out on this issue. The party has said that the government should respect the martyrs and give them due respect. Martyrs are not respected by just putting up photos in offices.

The party leaders said that we would like to remind that when the roundabout of Bharat Nagar Chowk was completed and lights were installed, the statue of martyr Major Bhupinder Singh was removed from here. This statue was first installed near the Government College for Girls and then outside the Rose Garden. The place where this statue has been installed is not at all suitable for this statue.

Communist Party of India Ludhiana City Secretary MS Bhatia has demanded that now that the roundabout has been built again at Bharat Nagar Chowk and the administration also wants to decorate it, then the statue of Major Bhupinder Singh and the tank brought by him from Pakistan should be decorated at the same place and given due respect without any delay.

This square should not be commercialized. By accepting this demand and re-decorating the statue there, the long-standing demand of the people of Ludhiana will also be fulfilled. We once again request the administration that the feelings of the people should be respected. The city residents get patriotic spirit and inspiration from the statues installed in the square.

Traders can advertise themselves anywhere. Traders should themselves research the martyrs of Ludhiana and Punjab and build new squares and intersections. New roads and new halls should be built. There are also many Ghadri Babas in Ludhiana. The heirs of the martyrs have also been living in Ludhiana.

Elevated road from Bharat Nagar Chowk to the bus stand is ready

 Thursday 25th January 2024 at 1:19 PM

Due to bad weather, there is a little more delay: MP Arora

Ludhiana: 25th January 2024: (Kartika Kalyani Singh//Ludhiana Screen Bureau)::

Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora remains active regarding the development of Ludhiana. He often raises the problems of the people of this area and other related matters with the government. Now the construction of elevated road from Bharat Nagar Chowk to the bus stand, which has become a problem for traffic in the central areas of Ludhiana, has been becoming a problem for traffic for a long time.

Member Rajya Sabha Sanjeev Arora has also been taking interest for a long time in getting it completed quickly. Even today, MP Mr. Arora along with Ashok Rollania, Project Director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) visited the elevated road between Bharat Nagar Chowk and Bus Stand to see the progress of the ongoing construction work.

In this meeting, Shri Rollania told the MP Arora that the work is going to be completed very soon. He said that bituminous work is pending on about 1.5 kilometer area. He said the contractor is ready to complete the work as soon as possible and is waiting for clear weather to start the work and complete it quickly. He said that due to cold weather premix carpeting cannot be done at present. As soon as the weather clears, the road will become operational in five days.

Thus, there is very little time left to see its launch. Mr. Arora expressed hope that after opening this part of the elevated road for vehicular traffic, people will feel a lot of relief. Rolania further told them that earlier he was hoping to open this route for vehicular traffic by Republic Day but the weather did not allow him to do so. Even today there was dense fog. In such a situation, some technical problems were also arising. As soon as it becomes operational, the speed of traffic in Ludhiana will skyrocket.

This new road will also increase business and common people will also get relief from problems caused by traffic jams. Continually contribute to social awareness and public interest blog media.
